Good information about stress by National Geographic

tv iconNational Geographic: Stress: Portrait of a Killer is a great documentary about stress and it’s effects on the body. It’s on 55 minutes long so it’s not a huge time commitment. Adrienne and I watched it and both found it to be both interesting and educational.

Read a good post about resolutions for programmers

blog iconI was forwarded a link to this and found the information really useful. 12 Resolutions For Programmers by Matt Might who is an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah.

It has a lot of good habits for everyone though, not just programmers. I liked “Going analog”, “Embrace the uncomfortable”, “Engage the arts and humanities” and “Complete a Personal Project” in particular. I know I tend to take on too much and get less done, because I end up running around trying to get things completed. Completing personal projects is probably something I need to just work on in general. It gets hard when it comes to balancing work, a girlfriend, friends and everything else.

Legend of Zelda : Skyward Sword is an emersive amazing adventure

joystickI recently bought the new Legend of Zelda : Skyward Sword for Nintendo Wii, and it’s awesome. I’ve lost interest in RPGs these days. I even lost most interest in the Wii.

On a side note: why didn’t nintendo make games like this earlier? Why haven’t they made very many good games regardless? The last new game I bought for Wii was…. I can’t remember it’s been so long. They could have expanded on the wii sports stuff a bit more too and they haven’t. Well that’s why I spend money on Xbox 360 games and not wii.

I’ve just started playing it, but it’s incredible already. It’s so much fun.

Trollhunter movie was fun and exciting

The other day we watched Trollhunter (2010) on Netflix. For a movie I thought would be something I was going to make fun of, I was totally surprised by it. The cgi animations were better than I had hoped for as well. I thought it was fun and exciting. It’s filmed in the POV of the camera person, and it’s that whole “we found this fotage uncut” deal going on, like in Cloverfield, Blair Witch Project, etc.

A group of student filmmakers are following hunters and wind up finding out incidents involving bears and a poacher is really a conspiracy of the government hiding the existence and management of trolls.

The movie apparently has done well enough that there is a hollywood remake coming in 2014. I’ll go see that when it comes out. Here is the link to the IMDB Here is a trailer (even though I don’t think it does the film justice).
